Wow, well I guess it’s been a minute or so since my last post. There’s a reason for that and not a very good one. But we’ll not go there. Suffice it to say that life has a very sneaky way of getting in the way.
You know, “the best laid plans of mice and men”, “time and tide wait for no man”, “avast ye landlubbers…..” , you get the idea. I’ll just say it has been a keelhaulable offense that kept me away and very nearly ended my boatbuilding career. However, I have resurfaced with my trusty old Navigator plan set, complete with more penciled in notes than I remember writing.
Unfortunately all the previous work done at my son’s garage hasn’t made the journey with me and I am looking at a complete and total reset of project. If fact there is no son’s garage anymore. I am now in a two bedroom rented condo on the second floor. Which after a second of pondering, I decided that being ( now) 74, I had no business trying to lift, carry or otherwise transport any boat worthy building material up any amount of stairs. So the problem has been solved by renting a 12’x 20’ storage unit as my current work/boat shop.
And yes there is just enough room in there, when everything is creatively stacked and packed. I am also considering the building jig with wheels to roll it outside to work on it when extra room is needed. Also for sanding to help keep the dust out of the shop.
